Four bingo entities distribute $616,999 for
September; Greenetrack switches from bingo to parimutuel

The  Greene County Sheriff Department issued a listing of the bingo distributions for September, totaling $616,999.19 from four of the five licensed bingo gaming facilities.  The bingo facilities regularly distributing through the sheriff include Frontier, River’s Edge, Palace and Bama Bingo.  Greenetrack, Inc. stopped its bingo gaming as of August 28, 2022, currently offering parimutuel gaming only. According to Greenetrack President/CEO Luther Winn, the distributions to local charities will be handled through the Greene County Racing Commission.
The recipients of the September  distributions from bingo gaming include Greene County Sheriff’s Department, the cities of Eutaw, Forkland, Union, and Boligee, the Greene County Board of Education and the Greene County Hospital (Health System).    Sub charities include Children’s Policy Council, Guadalupan Multicultural Services, Greene County Golf Course, Housing Authority of Greene County (Branch Heights), Department of Human Resources, the Greene County Library, Eutaw Housing Authority, Historical Society, REACH, Inc., Headstart  Community Service and This Belong To US. 
     Bama Bingo gave a total of $117,157.97 to the following: Greene County Sheriff’s Department, $48,070; City of Eutaw, $9,250; and the Towns of Forkland, Union and Boligee each, $3,875; Greene County Board of Education, $10,500, and the Greene County Health System,  $12,500. Sub Charities, each received $1,034.22 including REACH, Inc. Community Service received $470.10 and This Belong to Us received $94.02.

    River’s Edge (Next Level Leaders and Tishabee Community Center Tutorial Program) gave a total of  $118,288 to the following:  Greene County Sheriff’s Department, $48,070; City of Eutaw, $12,500; and the Towns of Forkland, Union and Boligee  each, $3,875; Greene County Board of Education, $10,500; Greene County Health System, $12,500. Sub Charities each, $1,027,, including the Historical Society and REACH, Inc.  Community Service received $467 and This Belong to Us received $92.
     Palace (TS Police Support League) gave a total of $266,558.44 to the following:  Greene County Sheriff’s Department, $111,426.26; City of Eutaw, $21,441.50; and the Towns of Forkland, Union and Boligee each, $8,982.25; Greene County Board of Education, $24,339, and the Greene County Health System, $28,975. Sub Charities received $2,017.89, including the Historical Society and REACH, Inc. Community Service received $917.22 and This Belong to Us received $183.44. The sheriff’s supplement for September from four bingo facilities totaled $70,631.80.

Bingo distribution for August totals $616,999

The  Greene County Sheriff Department issued a listing of the bingo distributions for August, totaling $616,999.32 from four of the five licensed bingo gaming facilities.  The August distribution reported by the sheriff includes $24,000 from Greenetrack, Inc. and $51,000 from the Sheriff’s Supplemental Fund distributed to the Greene County Commission.  
  The bingo facilities regularly distributing through the sheriff include Frontier, River’s Edge, Palace and Bama Bingo.  The recipients of the August distributions from bingo gaming include Greene County Sheriff’s Department, the cities of Eutaw, Forkland, Union, and Boligee, the Greene County Board of Education and the Greene County Hospital (Health System).

On Thursday,  June 16, 2022, Greene County Sheriff Department issued a listing of the bingo distributions for May, totaling $504,211.31 from four of the five licensed bingo gaming facilities.  The May distribution reported by the sheriff includes $24,000 from Greenetrack, Inc. and $51,000 from the Sheriff’s Supplemental Fund distributed to Greene County Commission.  
The bingo facilities regularly distributing through the sheriff include Frontier, River’s Edge, Palace and Bama Bingo.  The recipients of the May distributions from bingo gaming include Greene County Sheriff’s Department, the cities of Eutaw, Forkland, Union, and Boligee, the Greene County Board of Education and the Greene County Hospital (Health System).

      In the Sheriff’s May distribution report, supplemental funds, totaling $62,181.20, were provided by the four licensed facilities.  Bama Bingo contributed $14,274.79; Frontier contributed $14,274.79; River’s Edge contributed $14,275.00 and Palace contributed $19,356.62 as sheriff’s supplemental funds.

The bingo distributions were contributed by Frontier, River’s Edge, Palace and Bama Bingo. Greenetrack distributed an additional $71,000 separately as reported previously.  
The recipients of the November distributions from bingo gaming include the Greene County Commission, Greene County Sheriff’s Department, the cities of Eutaw, Forkland, Union, Boligee, the Greene County Board of Education and the Greene County Hospital (Health System).

Bama Bingo gave a total of $114,994.98 to the following: Greene County Commission, $30,570; Greene County Sheriff’s $33,750; City of Eutaw, $9,250; and the Towns of Forkland, Union and Boligee each, $3,875; Greene County Board of Education, $10,500, and the Greene County Health System,  $12,500. Sub Charities, each received $1,133.33.

The Greene County Sheriff’s Department reported a total distribution of $359,785 for the month of December 2019 from four licensed bingo gaming operations in the county. The bingo distributions for December are contributed by Greenetrack, Inc., Frontier, River’s Edge and Palace. Green Bingo is no longer in operation, however, a bingo license was issued by Sheriff Jonathan Benison to a new entity, the Raymond Austin Memorial Foundation for Rural Advancement & Development, Inc. on August 8, 2019.
The recipients of the monthly distributions from bingo gaming designated by Sheriff Benison in his Bingo Rules and Regulations include the Greene County Sheriff’s Department, the cities of Eutaw, Forkland, Union, Boligee, the Greene County Board of Education and the Greene County Hospital (Health System).
The following distribution reports, excluding the Palace, also contain an additional $24,000 from each bingo operation but does not give the recipient of this total amount of $72,000.

Greene County Sheriff changes bingo distribution rules  County Commission no longer receives funding from bingo

The September 2019 bingo distribution did not include funds for the Greene County Commission. The Commission had been receiving approximately $72,000 per month, funds provided by only three of the currently four operating bingo entities in the county including Greenetrack, Inc., River’s Edge and Frontier Bingo Parlors. The Palace bingo facility does not contribute any funds to the County Commission.
In his rule change dated September 30, 2019, Greene County Sheriff Jonathan Benison stated that the Greene County Commission has refused to provide responses to the Sheriff’s repeated requests for information on the Commission’s use of bingo funds during the previous three years.
According to County Commission records, approximately 60% of the bingo resources provided to the county are earmarked for matching funds required for ALDOT (Alabama Department of Transportation) and ATRIP grants awarded to the county, with the remaining funds used for continuing county road projects. According to the County CFO Paula Bird, regular reports on bingo funds received are submitted to the Sheriff’s office.

Greenetrack, Inc., Frontier and River’s Edge each provided $24,000 in the September distribution for the Greene County Commission which was withheld by Sheriff Benison, who indicated in his distribution report that this amount, totaling $72,000, would be placed in trust.
For the month of September, the Sheriff’s Department reported a total distribution of $357,960 from the four licensed bingo gaming operations in the county.  The bingo distributions for September are contributed by Greenetrack, Inc., Frontier, River’s Edge and Palace.

On Tuesday, July 23 2019, the Greene County Sheriff Department reported a total distribution of $307, 630 for the month of June 2019 from four licensed bingo gaming operations in the county. According to Sheriff Benison, gaming operations at Green Bingo have been suspended.
The bingo distributions for June are contributed by Greenetrack, Inc., Frontier, River’s Edge and Palace.

On Wednesday, June12, 2019, the Greene County Sheriff Department reported a total distribution of $307, 630 for the month of May 2019 from four licensed bingo gaming operations in the county.
Sheriff Jonathan Benison noted that Green Charity Bingo is shut down due to some legal issues and that gaming operation is in the process of finding a new location. At press time the Democrat was unable to reach Green Charity Bingo management for further information.

On Friday, May 24, 2019, prior to distributing the bingo receipts for the designated county entities, Sheriff Jonathan Benison held a short press conference stating that the citizens of Greene County voted for Amendment 743 and that’s the law he will stand by. “The late Thomas E. Gilmore instilled in me to provide for and protect my officers and the citizens of Greene County,” he stated.
The Greene County Sheriff Department reported a total distribution of $373,380 for the month of April, 2019 from the five licensed gaming operations in the county. The recipients of the monthly distributions from bingo gaming designated by Sheriff Benison in his Bingo Rules and Regulations include the Greene County Commission, the Greene County Sheriff’s Department, the cities of Eutaw, Forkland, Union, Boligee, the Greene County Board of Education and the Greene County Hospital (Health System).
Greenetrack, Inc. gave a total of $67,500 to the following: Greene County Commission, $24,000; Greene County Sheriff’s Department, $9,000; City of Eutaw, $4,500; and the Towns of Forkland, Union and Boligee each, $3,000; Greene County Board of Education, $13,500, the Greene County Health System, $7,500.
Green Charity (Center for Rural Family Development) gave a total of $67,000 to the following: Greene County Commission, $24,000; Greene County Sheriff’s Department, $9,000; City of Eutaw, $4,500; and the Towns of Forkland, Union and Boligee each, $3,000; Greene County Board of Education, $13,500, the Greene County Health System, $7,500.
Frontier (Dream, Inc.) gave a total of $67,500 to the following: Greene County Commission, $24,000; Greene County Sheriff’s Department, $9,000; City of Eutaw, $4,500; and the Towns of Forkland, Union and Boligee each, $3,000; Greene County Board of Education, $13,500, Greene County Health System, $7,500.
River’s Edge (NNL – Next Level Leaders and TCCTP – Tishabee Community Center Tutorial Program) gave a total of $72,050 to the following: Greene County Commission, $24,000; Greene County Sheriff’s Department, $9,000; City of Eutaw, $4,500; and the Towns of Forkland, Union and Boligee each, $3,000; Greene County Board of Education, $13,500, and the Greene County Health System, $12,050
Palace (TS Police Support League) gave a total of $99,330 to the following: Greene County Commission, $4,620; Greene County Sheriff’s Department, $36,960; City of Eutaw, $27,720; and the Towns of Forkland, Union and Boligee each, $4,620; Greene County Board of Education, $4,620 and the Greene County Health System, $11,550.
