For the 49th Year, the Black Belt Folk Roots Festival brought together local, regional, national and international folk in celebration of history, culture and tradition through music, dance, food crafts and fellowship. The Blues songs tell of our struggles; the gospel songs lift our faith and hope; the various hand crafts display our resilience and character; and the down-home foods allow us to dwell in our joy. Even the children have a place at the Festival. Guided by artists Mynecia Steele and Noelle Hines, the youth engaged in hands-on-art projects and retained them as precious creations. The Festival brings to life what we are taught: When All God’s Children Come Together, What A Time, What A Time….”
