County commission secures new coroner vehicle

The Greene County Commission met for a work session on Wednesday, June 3rd, and a regular session on Monday, June 8th. During both sessions, all commissioners were in attendance. 

During the CFO report, the commission’s total unrestricted funds were listed as $3,089,175.76. A full financial report for May 2026 can be found here: County Commission Financial Report May 2026.

Following the financial report, the commissioners discussed their continued support of the EMS and naming County Road 107 after Lesley V. Carlisle, who was killed in September 2023 during a head-on collision. Mr. Carlisle was a beloved school bus driver from Boligee, AL. 

During public comments, Mr. Williams from the EMA board extended his thanks to the commission for helping the board get the ambulance “back on its feet.” He particularly wanted to highlight Commissioner Tennyson’s contribution of $3,000 from his district’s discretionary fund. 

The following are ratified and tabled agenda items for the regular session:

  1. Ratified the contribution to EMS on May 21, 2026, of $5000, opposed by Turner
  2. Ratified travel for assistant engineer and EMA director to conference in Mobile, AL, June 8-10
  3. Ratified assistant engineer and 1 crew leader to attend the conference in Opelika, AL, on May 14th
  4. Naming County Road 107 after former bus driver, Mr. Carlisle
  5. Renewing CD with Merchants and Farmers Bank for 7 months 
  6. Approval of the Insolvent, Error, Litigation, and Unsold Tax Lien report for 2025 as prepared by the Revenue Commissioner
  7. Replacing the Golf Course building roof has been tabled until next month; no bids were received

 

The commission’s next work session will be held on Wednesday, July 1st and the next regular session will be held on Monday, July 6th.
