City council approves resolutions for water quality and welcomes new city clerk

Eutaw’s city council met for a regular session on Tuesday, July 14th. All council members and administrators were present, including new city clerk Ke’Undra Cox. Citizens raised concerns about road hazards in their respective districts.

During council member reports, Councilman French urged citizens to attend the upcoming city council work session on Tuesday, July 21st at 5:00 pm. This session will be the perfect time to discuss ideas for initiatives and city improvements with city officials. The mayor also informed attendees that community meetings will continue sometime next month.

Attending citizens raised a myriad of concerns about road safety. Some were worried about dangerous levels of speeding, overhanging limbs, and transport trucks destroying the roads. The mayor assured them that speed signs and speed bumps had been ordered for the roads mentioned. He also discussed that they were working with the county to clear overhanging limbs to prevent any further damage to vehicles.

The following agenda items were approved at the meeting:

  1. Resolution Number 2026-08: To apply for the FY 2026 CDBG Grant
  2. Resolution Number 2026-09: For Professional Administrative Services from Grant Management, LLC
  3. Resolution Number 2026-10: For Professional Engineering Services from Thompson Engineering
  4. Resolution Number 2026-11: An Amendment to the 2022 Water System Resiliency Restoration Project, ADEM Project No. FS010444-02, Contract for Professional Services with the Cassidy Company Amendment No. 2
  5. Resolution Number 2026-12: An Amendment to the 2022 Wastewater Contract for Professional Services with the Cassidy Company, Amendment No. 1. Restoration Project, ADEM Project No. CS011013-01
  6. Resolution Number 2026-13: Supplemental Application No. 2 for a loan (Drinking Water)
  7. Resolution Number 2026-14: Supplemental Application for a loan (Wastewater)
  8. Resolution Number 2026-15: Banking Signatories to add Ke’Undra Cox, City Clerk
  9. Approve Payment of Bills
