After much prayer and consideration, I am extremely pleased and honored to announce my candidacy for the Office of Probate Judge. I am a lifelong resident of Greene County and a member of the Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church in Boligee. My wife is Kajasa Cunningham Rancher and we have one daughter, Ryleigh Rancher. My parents are Valerie Rancher of Eutaw and Willie Gerome Walker of Union. I am a 2002 graduate of Greene County High School where I received an Advanced Diploma. I furthered my studies at Jacksonville State University where I earned a Bachelors of Science degree in Criminal Justice and a Minor in Forensic Investigations. While at Jacksonville State University, I was employed by the Calhoun-Cleburne County Mental Health Board as a Rehabilitation Assistant. I have been employed by the Greene County Sheriff’s Office since 2007 where I now serve as the Chief Deputy.
During my employment as a Greene County Deputy, I have gained an understanding of the complexities of county government including the capabilities and limitations.

The Probate Judge has many duties including two very important ones: (1) Serves as the chief election official for all elections and (2) Has the authority to involuntarily commit those suffering from mental health issues. I have received hundreds of hours of continuing education in several areas including but not limited to: Dealing with mental health issues, handling the election process, constitutional law updates and how to effectively communicate with others.

In addition, I am extremely active in the community in which I serve as an advocate for educating our youth in the areas of safety, drug awareness and underage drinking. I am member of the Greene County Children’s Policy Council where I serve as the Chairman of the Safety Committee, the Greene County Department of Human Resource’s Multi-Disciplinary Team and the Quality Assurance Committee, the 17th Judicial Circuit Child’s Death Review Team and a member of the Morrow’s Grove #800 Masonic Lodge.

I feel that the primary role of any elected official is to be an advocate for the citizens in which they serve. Because of my experience and training, I have “people skills” that can be used to bring people together towards common goals and unity. I also believe that all people should be treated the same regardless of their race, creed, color, religion, sexual orientation, political affiliation, financial status or etc. All people should be treated with dignity and respect.

I am fair, impartial and honest. I am committed to serving the citizens of Greene County. I look forward to a positive and clean campaign as well as meeting as many citizens as possible. Your support and vote will be greatly appreciated. THE RIGHT EXPERIENCE, THE RIGHT CHOICE!!!
